Hey Stamford

Last week I had a chance to attend the launch party for Edible Nutmeg Magazine’s new television series, ‘Edible Nutmeg on the Road’.

If that name sounds familiar to you, it’s because earlier this year, I wrote about the magazine launching an online video series. So, that means, in less than a year, the series went from an online presence into a TV series! How impressive is that!

But, a lot more time and effort has gone into this than just a few months.  For the past year, Pork Belly Productions has been working on identifying local farms and purveyors to film short inspiring videos and celebrate what Connecticut has to offer.  Each segment incorporates interviews, humor, and facts with quick, easy recipes.

Edible Nutmeg on the Road” actually premiered this past Saturday (November 26); but, in the following weeks the series host, Chef Plum & team will hit the road with brand new footage, episodes ,and adventures.  The series broadcasts Saturday mornings on Channel WCTX/MyTV9.

Chef Plum is a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America with over 18 years of culinary experience.  The entertainment world isnt new for Plum, he’s been featured on Food Network, ABC’s The Taste, and Jamie Oliver’s Foodtube to name a few.  But what makes him a perfect fit for the show is that he is a true advocate and supporter of local food.

Edible Nutmeg on the Road will showcase where local food comes from, and how it is nurtured. From oysters, bison, and micro-greens, to beer, bread, and bees. With that, the show will feature some pretty incredible local placesAmbler Farm, Black Hog Brewery, Copp’s Island Oysters, Gilbertie’s, The Hickories, Litchfield Distillery, Mowhawk Bison Farm, New Canaan Nature Center Harvest Festival, Oui Charcuterie Farm, Red Bee Honey, Shearwater Coffee and Wavehill Breads.

Spend your Saturday mornings watching Chef Plum and discover some of the best (and lesser known) food producers our area has to offer!
